   Polypropylene

Polypropylene is also known as polyolefin. Polypropylene is the world’s first Nobel Prize winning fiber (in 1996). It’s a synthetic fiber widely used in active wear with many splendid features that can keep you both cooler and warmer with breathability.
Hydrophobic and Breathability
PP is the least absorbent of the textile fibers. PP does not wet out. In fact, PP “absorb” water, moving moisture in the vapor stage to the outside of the fabric, never holding any moisture. The moisture moves away from the skin in the vapor stage before it has condensed on the skin. Condensation on the skin gives a feeling of clamminess. This unique “moisture transfer” system makes PP an excellent wicking and breathable fabric.
Quick Dry
Because PP does not absorb moisture into the fiber, drying time is minimal. The fabric will dry while you wear it. You stay drier longer and dry faster.
Insulation and Heat Retention
PP possesses the lowest thermal conductivity of any natural or synthetic fiber. This means more heat is retained for a longer time. The wearer stays warmer longer. The insulation factor is greater than any other fiber.
Complete Freedom of Movement
PP with spandex has complete 4-way stretch up to 125% in each direction. PP is very soft to touch and comfortable to wear.
Light Weight
PP is the lightest of all apparel fibers and is 30% lighter than polyester and 20% lighter than nylon. Regardless of the activity, weight saved means energy is saved for improved performance.
Chemical Resistant
PP will not react to ordinary chemicals, body salts or sweat and will not degrade in their presence. PP is chlorine resistant. If you wash with bleach and harsh detergents, PP will not break down.
Odor Resistant
Bacteria, mold and mildew can not grow on PP, and will not damage the fiber. A PP garment that is washed regularly will not retain body odors.
Abrasion Resistant
PP is a durable fiber, and will withstand a lot of wear and tear. This will help preserve those pressure points where clothing tends to wear off, like in the seat.
Color Fastness
PP can not be dyed and is pre-colored in the liquid stage (fiber forming stage, dope-dyed yarns) so the color in the fiber is part of the fiber itself. Why is this significant? PP will hold color longer than other fibers. During outdoor activities, washing or wear and tear your garment stays looking newer longer.
Environmentally
PP can be recycled easily. It does not produce any toxic gas or harmful by-products. After throw away, PP will be degraded by sunlight about half year.
Applications
• Active wear: It keeps the wearer warm, dry and comfortable of complete freedom of movement- important   characteristics for skin contact fabrics used in multi-sports.
• Thermal wear/underwear
• Ski wear: PP is specified by the U.S. Military for Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS).
• Dive and Surf wear
• Swimwear
• Baby articles: The harmless of PP is approved by FDA and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 class one for baby articles.
• Other applications: tents, Luggages, workwear, upholstery, hats and gloves, socks/sock liners, bed clothes,   and medical textile…etc.
